The European Alliance for Apprenticeships (EAfA) is a unique platform which brings together governments with other key stakeholders, like businesses, social partners, chambers or vocational education and training (VET) providers, working together to strengthen the quality, supply and image of apprenticeships in Europe.
Last 15th of September Xarxa FP, together with some 90 stakeholders, took part in the European Alliance for Apprenticeships meeting in Brussels. The meeting was a great opportunity for exchange of information, peer learning and discussions.
After policy updates from the European Commission, some of the Alliance members presented projects and results to deliver more and better apprenticeships, like Eurochambres, CSR Europe, Nestlé or Adecco. The European Social Partners also presented their projects on cost-effectiveness (employers) and a quality framework (trade unions) in apprenticeships and their work to bring these efforts together.
In the afternoon there were two parallel workshops. The first was on the integration of migrants and refugees through work-based learning and apprenticeships. The second dealt with preparations and mobilisation for the first European Vocational Skills Week which will take place 5-9 December 2016. A webpage with communication material and an events map has been established and all interested stakeholders are encouraged to organise activities and events under this umbrella. The next meeting of the European Alliance for Apprenticeships will take place during the week, on 8 December.
