Xarxa FP, the European reference network on VET mobility, will hold its XVII General Assembly next 18th of February in Rovaniemi (Finland).

The General Assembly (GA) will gather all representatives and Mobility Managers of each city of the network to review what has been done in 2015 and discuss new actions and projects for 2016. It will be also the place to welcome new members. This year, Ventspils (Latvia) and Hamburg (Germany) have submitted their candidature for Xarxa FP membership.

The GA will particularly review the management of mobility actions implemented during the past year. Xarxa FP managed a total of 356 mobilities in 2015: 217 students’ work placements and 139 teachers’ mobility actions, setting a new record of staff mobility in the history of the network.

The GA will also discuss the development of new projects in the field of cooperation for innovation, exchange of good practices and strategic partnerships. ECVET, Early School Leaving, Professional Qualifications of VET Teachers and Trainers and the elaboration an impact study of student mobility on employability within Xarxa FP will be some of the project proposal ideas to be developed in 2016.

In the afternoon, Ventspils (Latvia) and Hamburg (Germany) will officially present their candidatures for Xarxa FP membership. Ventspils, situated in the north-western part of Latvia, is the sixth largest city in the country and has the deepest ice-free port in the Baltic Sea. Hamburg, the second largest city in Germany and the eighth largest city in the European Union, is one of the most important transport hub in northern Europe and a reference in media and industrial innovation.
